cross Rakhine State, the Arakan Army (AA) has been regularly holding community mobilization meetings, and according to local reports received by wsnews24.com, Rohingya residents are also being summoned to these gatherings and subjected to threats.
Locals said that during these meetings, the AA has told Rohingya people: “Even if we kill and wipe you out, no one will know. And even if someone does, international organizations will not actually help you—they will only issue statements of sorrow.” Because of such remarks, Rohingya are living in fear.
Human rights observers noted that these statements constitute threats against the Rohingya community and also a direct challenge to international organizations. They assess the AA’s actions as an alarming situation that amounts to ethnically targeted intimidation, further worsening the risks facing the Rohingya.
