Some 365 members of the first batch of military conscripts were formally discharged in Karenni (Kayah) State earlier this month, junta media reported. It remains unclear whether conscripts in other states and regions have also been released.

Graduation ceremonies for the 21st batch of military conscripts were held on Monday at regional command headquarters and training schools nationwide, junta media reported, adding that training for batches 22 and 23 is now underway.

Since activating the long‑dormant conscription law in February 2024 and launching training two months later, the regime is believed to have drafted more than 100,000 people, in line with its plan to recruit about 5,000 per batch. The law mandates at least two years of service for men aged 18-35 and women aged 18-27.
