During the visit, the delegation toured several factories and workshops in Belarus, showcasing industrial capabilities and exploring potential areas of bilateral cooperation. Officials described the engagements as part of efforts to expand economic ties amid shifting international partnerships.
Belarus has remained one of the few consistent political and diplomatic partners of Myanmar’s military administration. The country’s leader, Alexander Lukashenko, has previously expressed support for Myanmar’s recent controversial political developments, including elections widely criticized by international observers.
The Myanmar delegation was led by Ye Tint Htun. During the visit, he held discussions with Belarusian officials, including Ivan Smilhin, focusing on strengthening agricultural cooperation, trade facilitation, and investment exchange between the two countries.
The engagement underscores a growing pattern of alignment between the Myanmar military administration and a small group of like-minded governments, as the country’s broader international relations remain constrained.
