Lieutenant General Ye Win Oo, the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief, graduated from the 77th batch of the Officer Training School (OTS) and was a trusted aide of Min Aung Hlaing. On March 30, the respective houses of the Naypyidaw legislature conducted nominations for the Vice President. Two nominees from the Pyithu Hluttaw (House of Representatives) and two from the Amyotha Hluttaw (House of Nationalities) were submitted. The candidate with the highest votes in each house will be selected as Vice President.

In the Pyithu Hluttaw, the pro-military USDP party nominated Min Aung Hlaing, while the Taingyintha Unity and Solidarity Party (an ethnic party) nominated Dr. Kyaw Swe. Only one Vice President will be selected from this house, with the candidate receiving the highest votes chosen.

Similarly, in the Amyotha Hluttaw, the USDP nominated Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, while ethnic representatives nominated Dr. Tu Ja. Again, only one Vice President will be selected from this house.
