A village administrator has reportedly been abducted by the Arakan Army (AA) in northern Maungdaw Township, raising alarm among local residents and triggering fresh displacement.

According to local sources, Maung Myint Naing was taken at approximately 7:30 PM on April 21 from Kyet Yoe Pyin village. Residents said the information was also confirmed to wsnews24.com.

Maung Myint Naing—also known as Faw Zul Kalam and the son of headmaster Kawmal Hossain—was reportedly taken without explanation to an AA battalion headquarters in Ngan Chaung village, where he is believed to be under investigation.

Sources added that he had been serving as a local administrator under AA control, playing a key role in maintaining civil order and ensuring stability within the community.

The incident has sparked widespread fear among villagers, with several families fleeing to nearby areas, including Phwin Phyu Chaung and Ngan Chaung, amid growing concerns for their safety.

Observers say the development reflects broader concerns regarding the treatment of Rohingya communities in the region. Continued reports of forced labor, arbitrary arrests, and discrimination have intensified calls for urgent international attention and an independent investigation.
