Another Forced Displacement of Rohingya by the Arakan Army (AA)

Bangladesh International Myanmar World

We are deeply saddened and alarmed to report another tragic incident of forced displacement carried out by the Arakan Army (AA) in northern Arakan State.

A group of 70 Rohingya families nearly 200 innocent people from areas around Maungdaw, including Nait Ordil, Shwe Za, Monni Para, and Rohingya Para, were arrested and detained by the AA around three months ago without any legal reason or justification. These families, which include women, children, and elderly people, have suffered unimaginable fear and hardship during their captivity.

On 22nd July 2025, the Arakan Army suddenly released them not to return to their homes but with a direct order to leave their own country and cross into Bangladesh. These people were not allowed to decide for themselves. Instead, the AA forcibly transported them using their own boats and pushed them across the border.

Now, these 70 families are stranded on a small, isolated island named Joillah Deya, where they are struggling just to survive. There is no proper shelter, no medical support, no access to food or clean water, and no protection from the harsh conditions.

This is a clear and repeated pattern of ethnic cleansing targeting the Rohingya population. The Arakan Army, while claiming to fight for freedom, continues to commit inhumane acts against innocent Rohingya civilians.
