In Maungdaw town’s former Ward 2—now designated as Ward 7 by the AA—the administrator appointed by the Arakan Army (AA), Tun Tun @ Ma Mat Nur, has been forcibly seizing belongings from houses of displaced Rohingya, claiming he is acting under AA orders, according to local residents.
Locals told wsnews24.com that since September 6, the temporary administrator has been looting and carrying away property left behind in Rohingya homes abandoned due to fighting in Maungdaw, saying it was “under AA orders.”
Reports say that Tun Tun @ Ma Mat Nur has also been extorting money from Rohingya through threats, citing AA authority. Beginning on September 6, he and his men took belongings from seven Rohingya houses—including the home of U Auli Hussain near the clock tower—and within a week, property from 11 Rohingya homes had been taken in daily raids.
Locals are now calling on senior AA leaders to urgently investigate Tun Tun @ Ma Mat Nur under the law and immediately stop the unlawful confiscation of property belonging to displaced Rohingya families.
